Nikolaos Voulgaris is Professor of Seismology, Engineering Seismology and Applied Geophysics at NKUA. He is also Vice Rector of Research & Lifelong Learning of NKUA, Chairman of the Center of Continuous Education of NKUA and Director of the Laboratory of Seismology. He is a member of the Executive Committee and Vice President of the European Seismological Commission for the period 2022-2024 and also member of several committees of the Earthquake Protection Planning Organization of Greece.

Research interests

His research interests include seismology and engineering seismology as well as engineering, environmental, and archeological geophysics applications. He has participated in over 40 national and international research projects, involving seismological and geophysical field research and methodology testing, in cooperation with numerous European Institutions and Universities acting as PI in 10 of them.

He has also conducted research of archaeological interest in collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Xanthe, Ephorate of Antiquities of Corfu and the Department of History and Archaeology, NKUA.

He has over 226 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and international congresses, among which 40 full papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and special volumes, with over 1000 citations and h-index 17.
