IOANNIS ALEXOPOULOS

Associate Professor in Applied Geophysics-Engineering & Environmental Geophysics
email

Ioannis Alexopoulos is appointed to the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) since 2004. He is holding the position of Associate Professor of Applied Geophysics – Engineering & Environmental Geophysics and currently acting as Deputy Head of the Department and Director of the Laboratory of Geophysics. He holds a BSc in Geology (NKUA) and a PhD (1998) in Applied Geophysics-Environmental Geology.

Research interests

He has participated in more than 90 applied research projects since 1984, with the main scientific interest focusing on applied geophysics for defining the geo-environmental, geotechnical, stratigraphical and hydrogeological subsurface status. Moreover, extended research of archaeological interest has been conducted in collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Xanthe, Ephorate of Antiquities of Arkadia (formerly: 39. Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities), Ephorate of Antiquities of Corfu and Department of History and Archaeology, NKUA.
